# Introduction

> Welcome to the Ulysses documentation.

This guide provides everything you need to start working in Ulysses. It is designed to help public agencies keep projects, programs, and the funding behind them in one portfolio—with shared workspaces and an audit-ready record.

Ulysses enables grant offices, finance teams, program staff, and invited partners to manage capital projects and public programs funded by the general fund, bonds, special funds, and grants. Key benefits include:

* **One funding portfolio**: Connect projects and programs to the awards and opportunities that fund them.
* **Trusted AI over your data**: Ask questions and complete work against the same records your team already uses.
* **Shared workspaces**: Bring agency staff and partners into one place with role-based access.
* **Interfaces for automation**: Drive the same authenticated workspace from the [CLI](/interfaces/cli) today, and [MCP](/interfaces/mcp) when it ships.

## How Ulysses works

In the product, your **workspace** (tenant) holds the organizations and records your team can access.

* **Projects** — capital projects and programs you track
* **Opportunities** — funding opportunities you can match and pursue
* **Awards** — funded awards tied back to the work they support
* **Activity** — recent changes across the portfolio

Use the [web app](https://app.tryulysses.com) for day-to-day work, or [Interfaces](/interfaces/cli) for scripts and agents. Both talk to the same authenticated workspace.
